Our Teams
What began as a friendly competition for the Architectural and Design community quickly became something far more diverse than anyone imagined. Teams were formed, given a simple framework for success, and introduced to local nonprofits and their needs, then set loose to get creative. The results were extraordinary.
Serving the Community
The projects themselves were as diverse as the people behind them — ranging from Parties with a Purpose and creative fundraisers to full-scale remodeling projects, park builds, outdoor classrooms, and community gardens. Some were small but mighty, tackling everyday issues with clever, budget-friendly solutions that proved you don't need deep pockets to create deep impact. Every project, regardless of size, carried the same heart and intention.

Results!
Over the years, The Challenge Event grew well beyond its original vision, ultimately serving as the launchpad for Project Change itself — an organization that has since completed around 300 projects, benefited 140 nonprofits, and engaged hundreds of volunteers. It was never just a competition. It was proof that creativity, community, and a little friendly rivalry can shift the world toward something better.
Our Judges
One of our favorite elements of the entire event. We believed that if a solution was truly good, it should be easy for anyone to understand. So each year, alongside a panel of hand-selected judges from diverse professions and backgrounds across the country, we invited a class of 5th graders to help decide the winners. Their perspective kept every team honest, grounded, and inspired to communicate their ideas with clarity and heart.
