The NE/IA ASID has accepted the "Project Change" challenge!
Friendship Program Inc. is a private non-profit agency committed to creating a caring and supportive environment to assist elderly and disabled individuals to remain independent in the Omaha community. The agency offers Adult Day Services, Day Rehabilitation Services, Community Support Services, and case management.
NE/IA ASID has worked in conjunction with the Friendship Program in recent years to update their facility. In addition to this year's kitchen update, we will be initiating small acts of kindness during the year with the hope of making a positive impact on the very deserving clientele of this agency.
Win or lose Project Change, we know that our team efforts will make life a bit better for others in Omaha!

Project Valentine
NE/IA ASID helped to "Spread the Love" for Valentine's Day with our Project Valentine. Four Omaha area elementary schools partnered on the activity with students creating 594 hand-made valentines. Craft supplies, fabric samples and trims were repurposed and given to the schools for use on the project. NE/IA ASID members donated candy at our monthly After Hour events and bagged 274 bags of candy at a "Bagging Party". These sweet treats were then delivered with many of the valentines. One hundred sixty valentines and bags of candy were delivered to the clientele of the Friendship Program as well as several large boxes of donated valentine chocolates for staff and volunteers. We were amazed at how this project grew and the excited reactions of both our young artists and valentine recipients. Teachers have already requested that the project become an annual event due to the "teachable moment" provided by the activity. With the number of valentines and amount of candy donated far exceeding our expectations, valentines and candy bags were also delivered to five area retirement homes. Our project was deemed a great success!

Project Look Good, Feel Good!
Friendship Program Inc. is the first adult day care service provider in the state of Nebraska to receive CARF accreditation. A full range of adult day classes and activities, rehabilitation, health, social and transportation services are provided. This private non-profit agency is always looking for ways to stretch their funds. NE/IA ASID hopes to assist them with their financial challenges by providing hygiene items to be used for Bingo prizes, inventory for their Rewards Store, and Mother's Day gift bags. ASID members will be donating shampoo, conditioner, soap, tooth brushes and paste, lotion, cologne, deodorant, and facial and toilet tissue to be used for their many programs and activities. Items will be collected at the February and March After Hour events.
