Making Magic
2010
Making Magic is exactly what we are hoping to do. 5 hairstylists and 1 loyal customer along with our families have joined together with Project Change to make a difference for families in Kansas City. One night on the news there was a segment on the Salvation Army, and how they ran out of warm clothing for people in need. This is what motivated us to get involved. The idea of people going hungry, cold, or without shelter is beyond saddening. We are in high hopes that through our involvement, and the involvement of our families, we will be able to raise awareness for those in need, and maybe bring a little Magic into the lives of others!!!
Firms Involved:
The Hair Room Salon
Clothing Drive for Salvation Army
Benefiting: Salvation Army
Our Project Change Team got started all because of a news cast about The Salvation Army and their lack of donations. A few of us at The Hair Room decided we would collect a few things to help. Now it has become PROJECT CHANGE!
It was only fitting that The Salvation Army was our first full blown cause. With the combined help of The Hair Room, our families and our community we were able to collet many items for those in need!! We collected clothing items for adults and children, school supplies and food items. We are MAKING MAGIC NOW!!!
69 stocking caps; 103 pairs of gloves; 15 coats; 60 scarves; 2 pair of ski pants; 1 pair of snow boots; 13 sweaters; crib sheet and blanket; 13 pair socks; 3 pair jeans; 9 shirts; 5 sweat shirts; 2 sweat suits; 2 fleece head bands; 45 food items; 28 school supplies.
A TOTAL OF 372 ITEMS!!!!

Magic at the Ronald McDonald House
Benefiting: Ronald McDonald House
When you drive through a McDonalds do you ever wonder what the collection of spare change is for? The Ronald Mcdonald house!
The Ronald McDonald house is a house set up in a "dorm" type setting for families who have children that are staying at Childrens Mercy Hospital. Many of these familes live at the house for several days to months. Since the Ronald McDonald house is financed by the spare change we all throw in they rely on donations and volunteers to keep running.
Making Magic decided that these familes dont venture far from the hospital, because there children are very ill or having major surgery. The house has a full kitchen, but food is donated. We decided that serving lunch to these families during difficult times just might make things a little easier for them!! All money that is donated at local McDonalds stays right here in Kansas City! Whether it is a few pennies or a few dollars please dont hesitate to keep donating!! Its truly a wonderful service they provide!
