About Us

History:
In June 2008, long-time sales representative Beverly McAuley decided it was time to make a change. A change for the better. A change that would truly make a difference in the community around her. So she created Project Change. With the support of friends, co-workers, clients and other sales representatives, she identified and mobilized a network of people committed to the vision of what Project Change could become. Three short months later, the first event was planned. And Kansas City and now other cities across the U.S. continue to reap the rewards!
Who Are We:
Project Change is a Kansas City based not-for-profit organization comprised of teams of businesses and individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact in their community. Each team competes in a set of challenges via acts of creative community service, with the winners receiving money for their non-profit of choice. Win or lose, our teams’ cumulative efforts make life much better for numerous charities.
The Main Event:
The Project Change Challenge Event is a team-based community service competition. Fifteen teams of volunteers within their local communities are organized to compete for bragging rights and the chance to make a cash donation to their charity of choice. Teams are challenged to create and perform multiple community service projects within a 4-month period. They are empowered to “Be the Change they wish to see in the world”. - Mahatma Gandhi
Our Results:
In our first 3 seasons, the Challenge Event grew to 320 participating companies and more than 1,300 volunteers. We have completed 176 community service projects, providing clothing for 26,000, food for over 20,000, and have raised close to $215,000 to benefit over 91 charities servicing our homeless and less fortunate! These results are only a portion of our teams’ accomplishments. But to those who participate, the Journey IS the reward.
